What is the cost of veneers in Utah?
What is the cost of veneers in Utah? It seems like such a simple question, but with so many unique cases and individuals, it can be difficult to just list out an exact price. However, what we can do is provide some common factors and the costs associated with those circumstances.
A smile is one of our most important features. We understand how challenging it can be to live with teeth that make you feel self-conscious or uncomfortable. A vibrant, healthy smile is always worth investing in, regardless of the cost of veneers in Utah. Veneers can be used when a person has tooth chipping, shape concerns, or even discoloration.
What are Veneers?
When a person has worn-down teeth, chips, cracks, small teeth or misaligned smiles, veneers can be used to correct and improve the appearance of the smile. Veneers are basically shells that cover a tooth. Once the tooth has been properly prepared, the dentist can then seal the veneer to the damaged tooth to give you the smile you’ve always wanted.
Whenever a person experiences trauma to the teeth that causes unhappiness or discomfort, veneers are a great option for recovery. Because dentists are simply placing the veneers on top of your existing teeth, it maintains the integrity of the tooth structure, while enhancing how they look.
In addition to tooth trauma or damage, veneers can also be used to help teeth affected by permanent discoloration issues. Veneers are an easy and effective solution for people striving for that perfect, radiant smile. Veneers can positively impact the overall health of your teeth and gums.
What is the Cost of Veneers in Utah?
Now that we have a better understanding of veneers, we can begin discussing the cost of veneers in Utah. Let’s start by discussing the cost of veneers for front teeth. There are three types of veneer material that a patient can select, and each has their own pros and cons: porcelain, ceramic, and composite.
The material you choose for your veneers will impact the overall cost of the veneer procedure.
- Porcelain: The cost of quality porcelain veneers is an average of $925-$2,500 per tooth, with a lifespan of 10 – 15 years. They are stain resistant and instantly improve the surface of the tooth. Thin porcelain shells are placed outside the natural tooth.
- Ceramic: The cost of ceramic veneers are less expensive at around $800-$2,000 per tooth. However, these veneers typically only last 5-7 years, so porcelain veneers may be a better long-term investment.
- Composite: This is the cheapest veneer option, costing about $250-$1,000 per tooth. However, these veneers wear out the fastest and will require the patient to renew their veneers every few years.
Other factors that can contribute to the cost of veneers in Utah would be the brand of the materials, such as Lumineers, Vivaneers, DURAthin Veneers, etc. Other manufacturers may tout veneers that sell for less than $2 per tooth, but they are such low quality, they really are only good for costume parties – not long-term use.
It’s also important to note that the cost of living has an impact on the cost of veneers in Utah. Typically, Utah prices are much lower than other states due to the higher dental competition. For example, New Yorkers can expect to spend a minimum of $1,300 per tooth.
Dental expertise also plays a role in the overall cost of veneers in Utah. Like we mentioned, there’s a lot of competition out there. For a dentist that has been practicing for 25 years, with expertise in dental implants, dental veneers, general dentistry, and other oral procedures, it may cost more than a dentist right out of dental school.
What to Expect from Veneers
1. Consult your Dentist
First and foremost, if you’re unsure if dental veneers are right for you, schedule a consultation with your dentist. They will be able to look at your natural teeth and provide counsel on the best approach to resolve the issues you’re facing.
2. Dental X-Rays
After you determine you’d like to proceed with veneers, the dentist will X-Ray your teeth to ensure everything is healthy and ready to receive the procedure. If you have any tooth decay or issues, those may need to be resolved prior to the veneer installation.
3. Shave the Tooth Surface
In order to prepare the tooth to receive a veneer, they will need to shave off a thin layer of tooth enamel from the surface. Then the dentist will take a mold or impression of the tooth to send to the lab to prepare the veneer.
4. Custom Veneers Made
After the laboratory technicians receive the impressions from the dentist, it can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to build the custom veneers for the patient.
5. Installation of the Veneer
Once the veneers are ready, the dentist will schedule an appointment to install them to your teeth. Dentists will assess the coloration and fitting prior to installing the veneer to ensure the patient is satisfied with the tooth shape and appearance.
They will clean the teeth before installation, then connect the veneers to the natural tooth using a type of cement. After the veneer is placed, they use ultraviolet light to prompt the cement sealant to develop a tough and resilient texture for long-lasting results. The dentist may request additional appointments to check on the installation integrity and comfort of the patient.
How to Take Care of Veneers
Veneers are quite an investment in your health and confidence, so it’s important to take good care of them. Much like regular oral health, regular tooth brushing and flossing is critical to increase the lifespan of your veneers in Utah. Additionally, it will be necessary to schedule routine cleanings and exams every six months so the dentist can monitor the success of the veneer installation.
You can also use toothpaste without whitening materials, such as baking soda or hydrogen peroxide, as that can erode the surface of the veneer. The same principle applies to mouthwash.
In addition to good oral hygiene, here are a few other tips to follow if you want to keep your smile bright and long-lasting:
Avoid hard foods like jawbreakers or other hard candy
Avoid sticky material, such as caramel or taffy
DO NOT chew ice
Avoid tough meats, like beef jerky
Be careful biting into foods like carrots or apples
Don’t chew on objects like pens or pencils
Don’t grind your teeth, which may require a nightguard
Avoid teeth staining food and beverages, like coffee, tea, wine, or smoking
Limit alcohol consumption, as it can impact the bonding materials
